At least 9 people died and several were injured in a Russian attack with missiles and drones that occurred on Monday night in the Kyiv region, according to Ukraine Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko.
In a publication on social networks, the official indicated that residential areas, hospitals and sports infrastructure were impacted by the attacks.
At least 6 of the deceased were in a skyscraper in the capital, said Kyiv mayor, Vitali Klitschko. The city’s military authorities indicated that another 33 people were injured.
In the last attack, 352 drones and 16 Russian missiles lashed out at the Ukrainian territory, mainly in the Kyiv area, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.
The president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, traveled to London on Monday to talk with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, on the military support of the United Kingdom to his country.
Valeiy Mankuta, a 33 -year -old Kyiv resident, said he woke up “between the debris”, after his building was reached by what the authorities identified as a missile. He escaped from his apartment climbing through the window.
“I had bricks on top, something in my mouth. It was hell,” he told the Reuters news agency.
Natalia Marshavska, another resident, said he heard a drone buzzing about her apartment before she exploded. The strength of the burst threw Marshavska in the room and destroyed the windows, he told the AFP news agency.
Then smoke began to go out everywhere. “It was horrible,” he added.
Russia intensified its air attacks against Ukrainian cities during the last weeks, by sending large smells of missile, drones and lures designed to overcome Ukrainian aerial defenses.
It is a difficult tactic to counteract for Ukrainian forces.

Thousands of Kyiv residents were forced to stay in shelters early Monday, while drones fly over and the explosions shook the city.
The Ukraine emergency service shared images that showed shocked residents, when they were evacuated from a destroyed skyscraper that was still in flames.
The entrance to one of the Kyiv Metro stations, where people usually take refuge, was damaged, and the classrooms and residences of one of the city’s universities were also impacted.
On the other hand, a person’s death was reported after the drone attack against a hospital in the city of Bila Tserkva, on the outskirts of the capital.
On Monday, an attack in the southern region of Odessa caused the death of two people and injured to a dozen, according to local authorities.
Zelensky said that a school in the area was achieved and was practically destroyed.
“None of these Russian attacks is accidental; the Russian army knows exactly where it has the objective,” the president published in X.
“We will not stay with crossed arms”

Speaking to the press this week in the capital, the Ukrainian commander Oleksandr Syrski promised to intensify the Ukrainian attacks against Russia.
“We will not stay with crossed arms because this will not contribute anything and, over time, it will lead us to retire, lose people and territories,” he said.
This occurs while the capital is still recovering from Russian attacks on Tuesday night, which left at least 28 dead and more than 100 injured.
The attack was one of the most serious against the capital since the beginning of the large -scale war in Russia, which began in February 2022.
Diplomatic efforts to end the three -year war stagnated. The latest direct conversations between both parties ended almost three weeks ago with an agreement on limited exchanges of prisoners and corpses.
New conversations have not been scheduled.
Zelensky planned to meet with the president of the United States, Donald Trump, in the framework of the G7 conference last week, but the meeting was canceled after Trump left the conference in advance in the middle of the growing crisis in the Middle East.
The Ukrainian leader plans to attend a dinner during the NATO summit in the Netherlands, which begins on Tuesday.
